Community engagement

Here at il nido Children’s Centre, families are offered the opportunity to view the children’s space when offered a position at the centre for their children.

The Centre is managed by a Committee of parents, staff and local community representatives. Less formal involvement with the Centre is also welcome. For example, if you would like to read the children a story, share a musical instrument or do some cooking we would be delighted. All offers of help are always appreciated.

The Governing Council is keen to encourage all parents to attend the Annual General Meeting, and aim to keep families informed through information and parent nights throughout the year. Your membership of, or input into this Committee is encouraged.

Community development

At il nido, we have a Community Development Coordinator who is available to support and encourage parents and families to actively participate in all aspects of the centre.

Our Community Development Coordinator also partners with other agencies to plan and organise a range of programs including:

  • Playgroups for parents and carers which may include Aboriginal families, dads, step-parents, grandparents, foster carers, family day care educators, refugees and newly arrived families and children.
  • Parenting programs: child development, early literacy and numeracy, song time, music and movement, baby massage, support groups and cooking.
  • Community events: family fun days, community lunches, school holiday programmes cultural events, celebrations and BBQs.
